Sangha Connection: Monday Night Drop-In Meditation with Nicco

Writer's picture: Chenrezig TBC PhiladelphiaChenrezig TBC Philadelphia

Dear CTBC Sangha, As a Buddhist practitioner with a deep commitment to Dharma service, I began hosting silent meditation sessions via Zoom each Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 pm ET. I started this weekly practice to provide an opportunity for people from all spiritual traditions to come together and meditate within the energy of a like-minded community. There is no obligation or commitment nor any formal teachings; people just drop in when they feel that meditating would be of benefit to them. We follow a traditional Buddhist format of preparation, motivation, silent meditation and dedication with a few minutes at the beginning and thankfulness at the end. Now, as a new member of CTBC, I would like to extend this invitation to all of you to join any Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 pm. If you would like to attend, please complete the registration and you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. If you have any questions about the meditation, please email niccokight@gmail.com.

LEARN MORE ABOUT NICCO:

I am originally from Delaware Valley and was raised a Quaker so silent meditation is a deep part of my spiritual experience. Years ago, I discovered the teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama which had a profound effect on my practical and spiritual life. While living in Japan in the 1990’s, I studied and practiced the Mahayana teachings of Venerable Thubten Yeshe, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, as well as Lama Ole Nydahl of the Karma Kagyu school. In 1998, I moved back to the Delaware Valley and re-entered the Society of Friends as an officer of Concord Monthly Meeting, a Philadelphia region Quaker community.

In the past year, I renewed my Buddhist lay vows and began studying with Geshe Gelek Chodha of the Kadampa Center in North Carolina. I had been seeking to establish connections with a local sangha and had the amazing good fortune to find CTBC. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of this sangha and aspire to be a student of Venerable Losang Samten. My heart is filled with the loving-kindness and coampassion for my teachers and spiritual community. I rejoice in the opportunity to serve. Weekly Monday Evening Meditation 1.
