About the Event
Join us every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. EDT for meditation and dharma.
April 18: Senior teacher Bill Stauffer will lead us as we read and discuss the Kalama sutra (Anguttara Nikaya 3.65) which is part of the Pali canon. In this sutra the Buddha answers question from the Kalama people and explains they must see for themselves what is true and not accept things on faith alone. Later in their meeting, the Buddha recommends the Kalamas purify their minds by letting go of the three poisons (greed, hatred, and delusion) and by developing the four immeasureables (love, compassion, joy, and equanimity). The Buddha explains four ways this will protect them and will lead to their happiness. We hope you can join us as we ponder the Buddha’s path to happiness.
