Help us create a Sanctuary of Peace and Love

Since its inception in 1991, the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia (TBC) has been open and welcoming to everyone, Buddhist and non-Buddhist. We are truly a non-sectarian Buddhist center as we have had numerous male and female teachers of different lineages and traditions come to teach and to lead retreats in the past. Thousands of people have passed through the Center over the years, including groups of high school and college students and individuals visiting to learn about Tibetan Buddhist teachings and rituals. Most importantly, we have a wonderful group of loving and kind members and friends who have been part of the Center for many years. TBC has been blessed by the kindness of many people and has truly become a people’s center.

Throughout the many years of its nomadic existence, TBC has been looking for a permanent home. Our search intensified after the sudden closing of the building where we had been renting a space. Our Center members and friends have felt the difficulty of not having our own space for so long. Searching for our own space was not an easy task, as there were many things to consider, such as finding a space large enough to hold sangha members, friends, and visitors; a good location easily accessible by public transportation; available parking; high ceilings to hang our beautiful, large thangkas; and most importantly, safety of our members and friends. We are very fortunate to have found a new building and with your help, we look forward to sustaining it as our new home!
